Connection of the deep pump. System with a storage tank. Separation of pumps by types and characteristics

During installation of equipment for wells, submersible structures. But often used surface aggregates. The structures described do not fall into the water, so their housing is not subject to negative environmental effects. Surface devices are divided into vortex and centrifugal. The first type of device is used to raise water with increasing pressure, and the latter are designed to lift liquid from deep wells. It is worth remembering that if a site is created artesian well, it is worthwhile to purchase more expensive and powerful equipment, since only powerful units can raise water from a depth of more than 20 meters.

Advantages and disadvantages of surface mechanisms

In the case where a shallow borehole was drilled on the site, surface devices are used. Such mechanisms differ in many respects when compared with deep electric pumps:

The disadvantages of the described electric pumps include the possibility of working only at shallow depths. Another drawback is that for the normal operation of the device it is necessary to install special filtering equipment. If this is not done, the mechanism may fail.

Before switching on surface pump   It is worth making sure that during the work it will not start pumping air. Also to the disadvantages can be attributed a high level of noise during the operation of the pump. It is worth remembering that you can install surface self-priming pumps only in insulated buildings.

How to choose

Before choosing an electric pump for a well in a section, it is necessary to find out the criteria on the basis of which it is worth purchasing such products. First of all, you need to know how much water will be pumped daily. For water supply a country house   It will require a more powerful pump than the design for the water supply of the greenhouse.

During the selection, the following data must be taken into account:

  1. If the house for which the mechanism is purchased lives 4 people, it is worth choosing a device that provides pumping 3 cubes of water per hour. This amount is enough for the whole family. If it is necessary to pump water also to supply water to the greenhouse and garden, the consumption is doubled.
  2. When installing a surface mechanism to provide water to the town house, you need to purchase devices with a capacity of more than 5 cubes.

The well for the surface pump, which is created on the site, should have a depth of less than 20 meters. If the depth is greater, you need to look at more powerful types of devices. Usually, centrifugal pumps are purchased for wells deeper than 25 meters.

How to install

The installation of the electric pump is quite simple. In order to start using the device, you only need to select a location for installation, and then connect the pipes. To perform such work, it is not necessary to hire specialists, but to install the pump you need to have minimal experience with plumbing equipment.

The pump is mounted as follows:

  1. At the first stage, a place is selected for the equipment to be installed. It is best to prepare a separate structure for installation. It is located near the well. It is worth remembering that it is necessary to insulate the created structure.
  2. After this, a concrete foundation for the mechanism is created. Metal fixing elements for the described equipment are installed in the base. Hairpins made of metal can neutralize the load, which constantly affects the structure during operation. If you do not protect the equipment, due to vibration it may become unusable in a short time. At the same stage, a surface electric pump is installed.
  3. Then there is installation of equipment, through which the control over the unit is carried out. Many automated systems are already set up and ready for installation. With knowledge, you can assemble the pump control unit in parts. If you are not familiar with the arrangement of such mechanisms, you should not collect them yourself. The structure of this unit includes sensors, as well as control relays that control the water level and other parameters. When the water supply stops, the relay will stop the pump.
  4. The next step is to connect the pump connection to the water supply system. During the connection, a non-return valve must be installed on the pipeline. This device prevents the water from pouring and draining after the pump is turned off.
  5. Then installation takes place expansion tank. Before starting the connection, check the pressure in the chamber. This indicator must match the declared manufacturer. If the pressure does not match, it must first be adjusted.
  6. At the last stage, the cables for the installed surface electric pump are connected. It is important to make a dedicated line for supplying electricity.

After connecting the surface pump to the well, it is necessary to check its operability before switching it on for continuous pumping of water.

Arrangement of water supply and sewerage in a private house is a question though beaten up, but actual for the majority. Accustomed to the benefits of civilization, we can no longer imagine a full life without them. At the water supply and sewage system, comfortable living in a private house is now completely tied up. At the same time to carry water buckets constantly - hard and exhausting work. Why talk about trying to take a bath in such Spartan conditions! But, fortunately, now solve the problem with the supply of water into the house simply - just install the pump. A selection, installation and connection of the surface pump are discussed in detail in this material.

Why is it needed?

The name of the surface pump speaks for itself - this device for proper functioning does not require immersion in water. It is installed "on land", and the liquid is fed into the pipes with a flexible hose coming from the pump into the water. Due to easy access to the device, the surface pump is easy to maintain, which attracts owners of private houses.

On a note! Such installations are rather weak and can not lift water from and large depths. The maximum is only about 10 m. If the well is on the site deeper, then the pump will have to buy a more powerful one - for example, a submersible pump.

Surface pump, in addition to water supply to the cottage, can also be used for watering a garden plot or pumping water from the basement, which is important for areas with frequent flooding in the spring.

The usual surface pump works as follows: at the end of the suction conduit, which is not lowered into water, a vacuum is created, and the liquid begins to rise through the hose due to the difference in the pressure indices at both ends of it. It is interesting that at the suction site this figure is 760 mm Hg. Art. at full vacuum and, replacing mercury with water, we will get a height of 10.3 m. So it turns out that under full vacuum the liquid can only rise by this amount. It should also be taken into account and the presence of certain losses in the friction against the walls of the waterway - thus, we get a distance of only about 9 m. As a result, the actual working height of the surface pump is quite small - about 8-9 m.

When choosing a pump, it is also important to consider the distance from the well to the pump itself, as well as the position of the water conduit. That is, it is worth remembering that the 4 m horizontal part of the hose will be equivalent to 1 m of water lifting.

The surface pump operates as follows.

  1.   or the accumulator connected to the pump, due to the construction, will be filled with water to a certain point.
  2. The automation of the pump will shut it down after reaching a certain level of water. The water supply will stop.
  3. When the water from the tank is exhausted, the pump will automatically turn on again and refill the accumulator completely, then stop.

If you need to pump water from a shallow well or a nearby pond, the purchase of a surface pump will be the best option for organizing an autonomous water supply to the house. In this case, such a device is installed very simply and does not need special operating conditions.

Advantages and disadvantages

What else is good for surface pumps? The advantages of these devices are the following.

  1. Small size - such a pump can be installed almost anywhere, it will not interfere with anyone, does not require the creation of a massive foundation.
  2. Cheapness - you can buy such a pump for little money.
  3. The period of uninterrupted operation is about 5 years - this is a decent working time for such a device. If you handle the installation carefully, it will last longer.
  4. Payback of equipment is fast - a maximum of two years.
  5. Installation of such a pump is simple, carried out quickly. The only difficulty is the need to securely attach cables and hoses to it.
  6. The device sparingly - does not spend a lot of electricity.
  7. Shutdown in case of need occurs automatically - no need to guard the operating device.
  8. In repair, as in operation, the surface pump is very simple and cheap. Yes, and convenient - even a hose from the water does not need to get.
  9. Security is another advantage of the installation. The electrical cable in the device does not come into contact with water.

But the pump installed on the surface, there are some drawbacks, which you should know in order to assess the need to purchase this equipment and the justification of monetary costs.

  1. Low power - such a device will be able to raise water only from a depth of not more than 8-10 m.
  2. You must install filters.
  3. Before switching on the pump, it must be pre-filled with water.
  4. The equipment creates a lot of noise, so it is not recommended to install it in the residential area of the house.
  5. Use a surface pump only in a warm room.

The advantages of the equipment, as we see, are greater than the disadvantages. The main thing is that the minuses are not the determining factors, and then you can safely buy this equipment.

Centrifugal surface pump "Aquarius BC-1,2-1,8U1.1"

Types of surface pumps

Pumps surface are of three types - centrifugal, ejector and vortex. They differ from each other in design features and performance.

Table. Types of surface pumps.

Type of equipmentCharacteristic

Inside the body of such a pump is a special axis, on it is fixed the so-called impeller, on which the blades are located. It is they who will transmit energy to the water during the rotation of the main axis. This is a small installation, they are inexpensive. The suction depth is small, so they are often used not for pumping water into the hydraulic accumulator, but for adjusting the pressure in the water supply system, watering, pumping water from the basement during floods in the spring. Efficiency - only about 45%. Not recommended for use as a pump for filling accumulators.

Such a pump is also called self-priming, and inside it has special wheels that create the necessary pressure during the operation of the device. They rotate due to the operating shaft, supported by bearings. The power is higher than that of a vortex pump, and therefore it can be pumped from a greater depth and can be used to organize a water supply system for a residential building. This is more expensive, but at the same time reliable and robust type of device with an efficiency of up to 92%. Can be used to create pumping station   in home.

Such a pump consists of two circulation circuits: in one of them the liquid is supplied to the ejector, where a pressure difference is created due to the Bernoulli effect, and water comes from the second circuit. This design allows you to lower the pump to a depth, which will solve the problem with a low suction height. But recently such units are not in demand, as there are more efficient submersible pumps.

Based on the above written, it can be noted that it is best to acquire centrifugal pump. This is the most the best option. We will become acquainted with its device closer: a pair of disks is installed on the gearbox shaft inside the mechanism. In one of them a small hole is made, connected with the free space between these parts. In this gap there are plates inclined at a certain angle - they create a special tubule from the center of the free space to the edge. These "strokes" are connected to a diffuser connected, in turn, to a supply conduit. And the suction hose is connected to the disk hole.

The interdisk free space and the suction hose are filled with water, then the reducer is started, and the blade plates begin to rotate and push out the water. This process is due to centrifugal force. As a result, a depleted space is created in the center, and at the edges and in the diffuser, on the contrary, the pressure rises. To equalize this "bias", the system will seek to level indicators and begin to pump water. So this installation works.

Attention! Independently, such pumps are usually not used - they are part of the design of the pumping station. This system includes a control unit and a hydraulic accumulator.

To pump served as long as possible, create. The unit pumps the water as necessary into the storage tank. This allows significant savings in equipment resources, since the pump will only turn on as the accumulator is empty. In addition, frequent inclusion pumping unit   entails a great deal of energy. And thanks to the arrangement of the pumping station, it is possible to save resources, money and provide the house with a certain supply of water.

A hydraulic accumulator as part of a pumping unit is a volumetric tank having inside a membrane or a pear around which there is a certain pressure level. That is, the water that enters this tank is under pressure. The design of the pumping station also includes a pressure switch, which will just cause the equipment to be started and shut down in time. And behind the level of pressure will help keep track of the manometer installed in the system. Connects all the details to a single organism "five-out" - a special choke with five outputs.

Pump connection

To connect the pump to the water supply system, it is necessary to purchase not only the equipment itself, but also such additional materials:

  • filter for water purification;
  • corrugated hose, due to which the water intake will be carried out;
  • check valve with filter;
  • water supply hose;
  • connectors;
  • FSM tape;
  • screwdriver and fasteners;
  • wrenches;
  • some water.

Step 1. First, choose the place where the pump will be installed. This should be a warm room, preferably - an economic building or a cellar. Also it can be a specially equipped small room built near the well. It must have a dense floor (preferably - concrete). The pump is screwed to the floor in such a way that it is securely fixed.

Step 2.   The FUM tape is wound on the inlet pipe to seal the connections.

Step 3.   Corrugated hose of suitable diameter is connected to the inlet branch pipe.

Attention! If the pump does not have a built-in filter, a filter is installed between the hose and the device to clean the water.

Step 4.   At the other end of the water pipe, a valve with a strainer is screwed.

Step 5.

Step 6.   The pump is connected to the water supply system by means of special connectors.

Attention! In this design, the accumulator is immediately present - it is a ready-made pumping station. If there is no tank, at this stage the system is connected to it.

Step 7.   The pump is filled with water through the feed opening, filter cover, filler neck. The water intake hose and pump housing must be filled with liquid.

Step 8.

Step 9.   The power cord of the device is plugged into the outlet.

Step 10.   Before starting the pump, it is necessary to open all the faucets in the water supply system to release air. When the pump is running and water flows through it, the cranes can be closed.

Video - Installing a pumping station at home

Surface pump - a successful solution for the organization of an autonomous water supply to the house. It is not difficult to use such a pump, and you can manage it yourself if you follow the instructions. With careful operation, the pump will last long enough.

Happy owners of cottages and individual houses perfectly understand that the level of comfort of their homes depends on the successful solution of the problem of water supply. Spoiled by civilization, people hardly want to go to the well or the river regularly with a bucket. If there is no possibility to connect to a centralized water supply system, it is necessary to equip an autonomous system. Most often a hole is drilled on the site. Her work must be properly organized, otherwise problems can not be avoided. Installation of a water pump in the well is the most important stage of its arrangement. How to do everything correctly? Let's understand.

Preliminary work

It is important to choose the right pump. The equipment must fully comply with the well in size. The difference in the diameters of the casing and the pump will lead to serious problems in the operation of the equipment, up to its damage. For example, with a large gap, the pump will not be able to provide enough water to fully cool the engine, which can simply burn.

In the documents for the equipment, all the minimum values are indicated. They must be taken into account. One more nuance. On the joints casing   their diameter slightly decreases, in spite of this the pump must pass freely inside the well. Forced pushing the mechanism is unacceptable. Before installing the pump in the well, it is worth checking the casing for possible irregularities, constrictions or distortions. Detected defects must be eliminated, otherwise they seriously hinder the installation of equipment and its operation.

Installation of the submersible pump in the well step by step

When starting the installation of submersible equipment, it must be remembered that it is intended for operation under water. This makes special demands on waterproofing the system. It is important to perform all connections as accurately and qualitatively as possible.

The procedure for installing the pump includes several basic steps

Preparing the pump and pipes

First of all, you need to install a nipple or adapter on the pump, to which we will subsequently attach the pipes. The nipple will provide us with a transition from the internal thread to the outer thread. For some pump models, such an adapter is included in the sales package. If there is no nipple, it must be purchased. And it is best to do this simultaneously with the purchase of the pump, so it will be easier to choose the correct adapter.

When installing a nipple, a threaded connection will be required. For better sealing, it is performed with a winding. Plumbers usually use a patch or a taped tape. In this case, it is better to refuse both options. Optimal choice   - Tangit tape or linen. When working with flax, do not forget to treat the joint with a silicone sealant or similar formulation. Such a connection will be stable not only to internal pressure, but also to possible hydraulic impacts.

We wind the coupling on the nipple. We start to prepare pipes. They can be metal or polypropylene. In any case, experts recommend using products with a diameter of at least 32 mm. Narrow pipes significantly limit the water pressure, which will adversely affect the operation of the pump. Maximum equalize the prepared pipe section. This is necessary to ensure that it enters the well as smoothly as possible, without distortion. We connect the pipe to the pump.

Connecting the power cable

Before starting the installation of a downhole pump, it is necessary to ensure its power supply. To do this, connect the power cable. It may be part of the pump, or it may not be available. In the second case, you need to consult an electrician and purchase a suitable cable. To the electrical terminals of the motor we attach the prepared cable. It is necessary to isolate the connection points with special heat shrink tubes, we install a shrink sleeve on top. So we will provide the most reliable waterproofing.

Preparation of the suspension system

The power cable connected to the pump is laid along the pipe. Now we need to fix borehole pump   rope so that you can lower it down. It is best to take a metal cable, but a strong nylon cord will do. Securely fasten it to the body using special mounting lugs. Fix the attached cable along the cable and pipe. We have obtained a "route" of three elements, which must be fixed among themselves. Optimum use for this purpose special clamps, but the tape or wire is quite suitable.

The device in the well is lowered smoothly, without touching the casing wall equipment

Lowering the pump

To the base plate above the bore hole we fix the upper end of the pipeline, install a check valve if it is not present on the pump, a knee, a latch and a manometer. After that we connect all devices to the water supply system. Prepared suspension system attached to the crossbar, now you can lower it. To properly install the pump into the well, it is necessary to ensure its smooth descent into the casing. The mechanism should not touch its walls, if this is not possible, it is necessary to protect the body with a rubber ring.

Mounting the water pump in the well is a complicated procedure. Even a minor error can lead to problems in the operation of an autonomous water pipe and damage to equipment. Lusche entrust the procedure to specialists who know exactly how to install the pump in the well. They will quickly and accurately carry out the installation of equipment and give a guarantee for its uninterrupted operation.

Video: installing the pump

   Submersible pumps Aquarius series BTPE 0.5 and BCPEU 0.5 have a 1 "diameter outlet pipe (the nominal flow rate of all pumps in this series is 1.8 m³ / h). submersible pump   It is better to choose a pipe in such a way that there is no narrowing of the internal diameter of the outlet branch pipe of the pump. In our case, it is better to install plastic pipe   with an external diameter of 32 mm (the internal diameter of such a pipe will be about 26 mm, which corresponds to the output of the pump in 1 "). However, there may be exceptions, since the determining factor is not the diameter of the pipe itself, but the pressure loss, depending on the diameter of the pipe and the flow rate of the pump.For more information, see "Selecting a pump for a well" or "Selecting a pump for a well," where tables of head loss are also posted.

Submersible pumps Aquarius do not have a built-in non-return valve, so when using them in closed water supply pressure systems, installing a check valve is mandatory! Check Valve   can be installed directly into the pump discharge port or cut into the discharge pipeline, up to 1 meter from the pump outlet. It is only possible to install the check valve on the surface when the Aquarius pump is submerged in the immediate vicinity of the ground (up to 3 m), otherwise use the above recommendations. In any case, we recommend choosing a check valve with a brass seat.

We connect the pump to the pipe using a coupling (plastic or, preferably, brass) of the appropriate size 32-1. "The same considerations apply to the BCPE 1.2 Aquarius submersible pumps that have a 1¼" outlet nozzle (the nominal flow rate of all pumps this series is 4.3 m³ / h). In this case, the pipe should be with an outside diameter of at least 40 mm, and the required coupling for the submersible pump will have the designation 40-1¼ ".

To the upper end of the pipe we attach a similar coupling and connect it to the head (of course, the headpiece is only needed when mounting the submersible pump in the well).

It is desirable to fasten the pump cable to the discharge pipe using clamps. This will facilitate the immersion of the Aquarius pump and prevent the risk of mechanical damage to the cable. It is important to know what to lower and raise the pump for electrical cable   it is forbidden, therefore the cable is fixed to the pipe with small sagging along the entire length, in order to avoid even minimal loads on the cable entry in the submersible pump.

To the eyes of the submersible pump Aquarius (located at the top on each side of the discharge nozzle) we attach the safety rope. You can use a nylon rope (which comes with the pump), or you can attach a cable from stainless steel (enough cross section of 3 mm). In the borehole, the cable, like the cable, should not hang in the way, since the main function of the cable is insurance. In the well, on the contrary, it is the rope that often performs the function of supporting the pump.

After completing these preparations, lay out everything on the site in a straight line next to the well. Then we start gently to lower the pump into the well. When immersed in a small depth of installation, this operation can be handled by one person, although it is best to do everything together. In this sense, it will be easier to deal with wells, since they tend to have less depth.

The question remains, what depth should the pump be submerged in?
  On the one hand there are limitations of the manufacturer - Aquarius pump can not be submerged below 0.4 meters to the bottom, while the water level above the pump should not be above 10 meters.

These recommendations, and we must follow that in the case of installation of the submersible pump Aquarius in the well, does not raise questions. However, one must take into account that wells are different, including by age. Somewhere the pump should be installed and 1 meter above the bottom of the well, because of its silting, otherwise the pump will supply turbid water.

When submerging the pump into the well, it is necessary to be guided by the well certificate issued by the drilling organization. It shows the flow rate of the well, the dynamic water level (when pumped with a pump with a certain capacity), and the recommended depth of installation of the submersible pump. If the well design allows, it is better to install the pump 4-5 meters below the dynamic water level specified in the passport. In this case, never install the pump in the wellbore filter zone or below this level (the filter zone is marked in the well data sheet).

Why do you need to pay attention to the design of the well?
Because often the well is made of casing pipes of different diameters. For example, at the bottom of the well from a certain point (there is a borehole drawing with the dimensions and diameters of the casing pipes in the passport), a pipe with a diameter smaller than the diameter of the submersible Aquarius pump can be installed (here you can pay attention to Aquarius BCPEU 0.5 with internal diameter 95 mm). This is important to consider.

After determining the depth of immersion of the pump, we measure this distance, cut off the discharge pipe, and connect this end of the pipe to the head with a fitting, as already mentioned above.

Taken from the manufacturer's website.

But that's not all ...

In my case 135mm plastic was inserted in the main pipe, and it began at a depth of 25m (water starts at 40). The pump refused to enter the hole, it was necessary to use a piece of a plastic bottle from the kvass for centering the pump in the well.

To provide a house and a plot, you can use a wide variety of modern techniques. Very often surface pumps for cottages are an ideal choice. They are relatively inexpensive, easy to install and operate. Servicing or repairing a pump on the surface is easier and more convenient than a submersible model.

Surface pumps, as the name suggests, is installed on the surface. These are relatively inexpensive and quite reliable devices, although for very deep wells they are not suitable.

Rarely will you find a surface pump that can supply water from a depth of more than 10 meters. And this is only if there is an ejector, without it the indicators are even lower.

Surface pumping stations have a wide range of applications, they pump water from various sources with a depth of no more than 10 m

If the dacha has a well or a well of suitable depth, you can safely choose a surface pump for the site. You can take a model with a relatively low productivity for irrigation or a more powerful device that effectively provides water a private house. The convenience of surface pumps is obvious: first of all, it is free access for tuning, maintenance   and repair.

In addition, the installation of such a pump at first glance looks very simple. The pump must be installed in a suitable place, lower the hose into the water, and then connect the device to the power supply. If the pump is only needed for watering, you can purchase and install it without any additional elements.

Image Gallery

To optimize the operation of the device it is recommended to take care of the device for automated control. Such systems can shut down the pump when a hazardous situation occurs, for example, if there is no water in it. "Dry running" is not recommended for almost all models of surface pumps. It is also possible to automate the shutdown of the pump, if the watering time is over, the required volume is filled, etc.

How is the pumping station

For the organization autonomous water supply   at home from a well or a well it is worth buying additional elements and integrating them into a full pumping station. In addition to the pump, you will need a hydraulic tank, as well as a pressure switch. This relay turns the pump on and off, depending on whether the tank is empty or full.

The scheme shows the detailed order of water supply to a private house from a well using a surface pump in the pump station (+)

As a result, there will always be some water in the house, and the pump will be completely empty. This greatly extends the resource of its work. In addition, the presence of a hydraulic tank compensates for possible water hammers, which positively affects the condition of the water pipe as a whole.

In addition, it is also recommended to purchase a manometer (if the tank is not equipped with a hydraulic tank). Of course, you can buy a pumping station, complete with all the necessary components. The procedure for installing an industrial production station and assembled independently is not too different.

Surface pumps are often used in the pump station together with a pressure accumulator and a pressure switch that is automated for the operation of this set of devices

The hydraulic accumulator or the tank is a container equipped with a special rubber membrane. As the tank is filled, this membrane stretches, and when it is emptied, it contracts. Such a device is considered highly efficient for autonomous water supply.

System with a storage tank

As an alternative to the accumulator, one can consider an ordinary tank, for example, plastic. It can be any suitable capacity that will meet the needs of the family in the water. Typically, such a storage tank is installed as high as possible to ensure sufficient water pressure in the water supply system at home.

In this case, it is necessary to take into account that the load on the walls and floors will increase. For calculations it is necessary to remember not only the weight of the accumulated liquid (the weight of water in the tank of 200 liters is, of course, 200 kg). Take into account the weight of the tank itself. The cumulative weight is related to the bearing capacity of the house. If there are any doubts in this respect, it is better to seek the advice of an experienced engineer.

Image Gallery

To automate the operation of a pump with self-made accumulator tank, you can use a float sensor. This is a relatively simple device, many craftsmen make it themselves. A float is installed in the tank, with which information about the water level comes to the automatic switch.

When the amount of water in the tank reaches the minimum level, the pump starts and runs until the tank is full. After that the pump is automatically switched off. The storage tank is considered an economical variant of the house's water supply, since the cost of such a complex of devices is lower than that of an industrial pumping station.

The surface pump at the dacha can be used for various purposes, for example, for filling water with a storage tank, for irrigation, etc.

Where to install the pump

The most important moment when installing a surface pump or pumping station is the selection of a suitable location. Here are a few requirements that will help you find the right place for pumping equipment:

  • the closer the device is to the source of water, the more steadily its fence will be carried out;
  • the device (or set of devices) should be sheltered from bad weather in a special room, a bunker, etc.
  • it is necessary to protect the pump from freezing during winter colds;
  • the place where the equipment is installed must be ventilated to avoid an increased level of humidity causing corrosive processes;
  • should take care of sufficient space not only to accommodate the pump or the entire station, but also to carry out the necessary maintenance, adjustment, repair, etc .;
  • the place should be either removed from the living quarters, or additionally isolated from noise, because the surface pumping technology   works pretty loud.

It is not always possible to comply with all these conditions, but this should be pursued with all the strength. Surface pump is usually installed as close as possible to the water source.

Due to the insignificant suction depth, on average 8 to 10 m, deep pumps are recommended to be installed at the shortest distance from the water source

To protect the device from external factors, it can be put in places like:

  • special wooden box;
  • well-arranged well head;
  • a cavity excavated in the earth;
  • inside a spacious well;
  • the boiler room located next to the water source and the like.

Of course, each site is individual, the decision must be made depending on the situation. In the ground the pump is deepened, if it is necessary to protect the device from frost, but there are no other options. It will be necessary to dig a fairly large and deep pit, it should be below the freezing level of the ground.

Of course, if the dacha is used only in the warm season, the requirements for installing the pump may not be as severe. The freezing problem automatically disappears. But the pump should still be reliably hidden from the precipitation. If the dacha is to be kept for the winter period, of course, the surface pump must be removed, cleaned and stored in suitable conditions.

If it is decided to install a surface pump or a pumping station in the basement, make sure that it does not freeze during frosts

If the water source is a well of sufficiently large diameter concrete rings, you can place the pump directly in it. In this case, you do not need to dig anything, you need a small solid raft, able to withstand the weight of the pump. The raft is lowered directly to the surface of the water mirror, on top of which the pump is fixed.

The advantage of this solution is that the depth of immersion of the hose will be somewhat increased, i.e. The fence will be made from a greater depth. But it is necessary to take into account possible problems. For maintenance and repair of equipment it will have to be removed to the surface. The risk of contact of the appliance with water increases. But in general this option is quite acceptable.

If it is necessary to install a surface pump in the pump station, the requirements for choosing the suitable location will be approximately the same. Although it should be remembered that the size of the whole set of devices is slightly larger than that of a conventional pump. Most often, the station is put in a special caisson, which is equipped near the well.

A convenient place to install a surface pump is a boiler room: usually in this room is already arranged a good sound and heat insulation

An ideal place is a boiler house, already well-equipped for the operation of heating equipment. Install pumping stations and in the basement of a residential building, but such a room will have to be carefully prepared: insulate and provide heating to prevent the freezing of water, etc.

You can put the station inside the well, but this will cause an additional problem. To adjust the pressure switch, the equipment must be removed to the surface. Indicators that are obtained when the pump on the surface, can change when it is lowered down. This makes it difficult to adjust the pressure switch.

This diagram clearly demonstrates the procedure for calculating the maximum immersion of a surface pump hose. It is necessary to take into account the distance separating the water mirror and the water supply level, as well as the space between the water source and pumping equipment (+)

In the absence of the best, surface pumps are sometimes placed directly in living quarters: in the hallway, in the storeroom, in the bathroom, etc. So the equipment will not get wet and will not freeze, but the noise from its work will definitely interfere with the tenants of the house. This option can be considered only as a temporary one, at the first opportunity, the pump or station should be installed in a more suitable place.

Select the location for the surface pump should be before it is purchased. When installing such equipment, you should adhere to the rule "1: 4". This should be the ratio of the depth from which water is drawn to the horizontal distance to the pump.

If water comes from a depth of two meters, then the horizontal section to the equipment should be no more than eight meters. If this ratio is not met, for example, the distance to the pump is longer, it is recommended to take the pipes a quarter of an inch wider than the manufacturer's recommended dimensions.

Pump connection procedure

Although it is believed that with the installation of surface pumps, the hassle is less than when installing submersible models, yet you should not take this business lightly. A number of important points taken into account when installing the pump will help improve the efficiency of its operation and prevent possible breakdowns.

Preparation of materials and tools

To connect a surface pump, you need to stock up with the appropriate materials first. Here is an approximate list of required elements:

  • a connecting pipe that is installed between the pump and the hose;
  • a hose for water intake from the source;
  • hose or pipes to connect the pump to the storage tank;
  • hose for irrigation;
  • check valve with screen filter;
  • a special adapter for the second output;
  • connecting fittings;
  • fasteners and the like.

If a system with a hydraulic accumulator is installed, a pressure switch and a pressure gauge are also required. If it is decided to use only a storage tank, you should purchase or make a float sensor. The tool may need different keys, as well as devices for working with fasteners. Roulette, a building level, materials for insulation of threaded connections, a soldering iron for polypropylene water pipes, etc. are useful.

Installing the device based on

Before you connect any elements to the pump, you need to install it on a firm and level surface. This is an important point. Even a small instability or roll can cause a significant decrease in the productivity of the device. The base can be made of concrete, brick or even from solid wood.

To install a surface pump, you first need to find a solid and even foundation. It can be made of brick, wood, concrete or, as in this case, use metal brackets

The main thing is that it is firm and even. In order to secure the pump in a stable position, anchor bolts are usually used. Under the fasteners in the case of the device there are special holes. Sometimes a large rubber gasket is mounted under the pump casing. It acts as a shock absorber and dampens vibration when the engine is running.

Feed hose with check valve

After that, the supply hose must be installed. A check valve is attached to its lower part, onto which a strainer is fitted. As a fastener, use a clutch with an external threaded connection. Pumps equipped with check valve and filter coarse cleaning, are produced on industrial enterprises. In order not to bother with this part of the system installation, you can buy such a ready-made hose.

But, according to the testimonials of experienced masters, independent manufacture of a hose with a valve will cost much less. If the installation technology of all elements is met, such a device will be no less reliable than the model of industrial production. Sometimes two non-return valves are mounted: one at the end of the hose, the other near the accumulator.

The upper part of the hose is connected with a pump by means of a fitting. Instead of a hose, you can use polypropylene water pipe   with a diameter of 32 mm. After this, the hose is lowered into the water in such a way that the check valve is immersed in it no less than 30 cm.

To connect a non-return valve to a system with a surface pump, it is necessary to use special fittings and adapters, for example, as shown in the photo (+)

The non-return valve, as well as the filter protecting it, are necessary elements. The valve protects the pump from idling because it prevents water from pouring back after the pump is turned off. The filter is necessary to protect the device from contamination.

Connection to the water supply system

Then connect the pump to the accumulator tank or accumulator tank. It should be remembered that the horizontal part of the hose should have a slight slope. Often, a flexible connection to the tank and adapter, as well as other elements of the system are mounted on the threaded connections. In this case, care must be taken to ensure proper sealing with FUM tape or other suitable seals.

After that, the storage tank or station is connected to the water supply system at home. When laying pipes, you should also remember the correct gradient. An important point is the insulation of pipes laid in the ground. Today there is a wide choice of suitable heaters, it remains only to choose and use the suitable one.

To install a part of the water pipe that joins the pump station, you will need a set of fittings, PVC pipes, as well as a special device for soldering these pipes

Only after all the devices are assembled in a common highway and connected to the inside of the house water pipeline, you can test the operation of the system. Incorrect start of the surface pump can lead to its rapid breakdown. The details of this process are set out in the manufacturer's instructions, which should be carefully studied.

Checking system operation

Usually, before starting, surface pumps are filled with water through a special hole. Water must fill not only the pump, but also the parts of the pipeline to and after the pump. Then fill the filler hole. It is recommended to immediately record the pressure readings in the accumulator and in the system.

Before installation, the surface pump must be filled with water through a special filler hole. Do not include such a pump in the "dry run" mode

This information can be useful when further configuring the system. Perhaps you need a little pumping air into the tank or blew it. After that, the pump is connected to the mains and switched on so that the storage tank or accumulator is filled with water. Immediately check all connections for leaks and troubleshoot if necessary.

If you use a self-made tank, it will not hurt to check its integrity. Through undetected cracks, water may leak. This problem should also be solved immediately. If the system is assembled correctly, and nothing flows anywhere, it remains only to configure the control equipment.

After this, you need to check the operation of automatic systems. To do this, you need to open the water and observe the process. When the drive is emptied, the pump must turn on in automatic mode and turn off again when the capacity is full.

Normally, the pump automatically turns off when the pressure in the system approaches the three-atmosphere index. After this, the water is drained off until the pump starts to work again. At this point, you should record the actual pressure in the system and compare it with the manufacturer's recommendations. If significant differences are found, it is necessary to adjust the operation of all devices to an acceptable level. After configuration, the check is performed again.

There are not so many "pitfalls" in installing a surface pump. Of course, do not rely on your own flair or the famous "maybe". A careful study of the manufacturer's instructions, as well as a few small consultations with experienced masters, will help even a novice to cope with this task quite satisfactorily.
