Window valve for plastic. Possible installation options. Ventilation valve in windows

Plastic windows - a genius invention of man. Hermetic PVC windows practically do not let out street sounds and allow to lower considerably heat losses, and, hence, expenses for heating of premises. But in today's article, it will not be about the merits of plastic windows, but how to deal with the sharp decline in air circulation in sealed rooms.

How to improve air circulation in an apartment

We will not enumerate all the negative aspects that are connected with the lack of fresh air in our homes: they have already been mentioned repeatedly. Instead, consider some methods that improve air exchange in sealed apartments.

Design features

The window ventilator (also a supply valve) is a small device that is installed in the upper part of the window sash and ensures the supply of street air to the dwelling. The principle of operation of this device is based on the pressure difference between the room and the street.

By the method of installation, all inlet window valves are divided into slotted and built-in. In turn, the slotted ventilators are mechanical and automatic. Consider the most common types of these devices.

Manual ventilated apertures

This type of device consists of an internal valve and an external lining providing protection against atmospheric precipitation, insects, etc. entering the room. The installation of these devices can be done in two ways:

This type of device has the following advantages:

  • Simplicity of design, installation and management.
  • Ability to edit already installed windows.
  • Wide range of models.
  • Affordable price.

Built-in air vent for windows

The built-in supply valve for windows, as well as the slit, consists of internal device  and the outer lining, with the only difference being that the installation of the internal vent is not a profile, but a double-glazed unit. That is why this type of devices can not be mounted independently at home.

The main advantage of this device is a high performance: up to 100m 3 / h, against 20m 3 / h slot vent. In addition, all models of built-in airing ventilators can be used in both open and deaf windows.

Automatic Window Valves

This type of device is represented in the construction market by two types of devices: with the stabilization of the air flow and with the adjustment of the position of the flap with the built-in hygrometer.

  • Devices with stabilized air supply consist of a pendulum valve that opens or closes the flap due to the pressure difference between the street and the room. Regardless of the atmospheric factors, the air flow carried by the device remains in the range chosen by the owner.
  • Devices with damper control hygrometer based on the use of a polyamide sensor, which increases the humidity in the room, the cross section of the device increases, and when it reaches the most optimal indicators - reduces. Thus, the installed supply valve to the plastic windows, contributes to the creation of a favorable microclimate in the dwelling.

The main advantages of automatic window ventilators are: the possibility of mounting on installed windows of any type (deaf, opening); work both in automatic and manual mode, the optimal price-quality ratio.

Ventilators with high sound insulation

Regardless of the design features, all types of these devices provide noise insulation in permissible normative documents  limits, 30-40dB. To reduce street noise, modern industry offers the use of so-called acoustic valves.

Due to the high cost of acoustic ventilators, their use can be justified only in rooms with special requirements for sound insulation.

The main constructive feature of these devices is the use of materials that actively absorb sound. As a result, acoustic ventilators provide a sufficient flow of fresh air into the room, with high noise insulation.

Which manufacturer's products to choose?

The most popular window valves for our compatriots today are the devices presented to the French company AERECO. A feature of the automatic ventilators of this brand is the removal of the hygrometer from the device itself, thanks to which the real indices of humidity in the room are achieved. The company AERECO produces air induction windows of various modifications, differing in installation, adjustment, soundproofing and color execution.

Windows with flap air supply ventilation  from russian company  Mabitec, are an excellent solution for connoisseurs of quality and efficiency. Supply Valve Air-Box Standart, consists of two parts: the internal, supplying air from the top of the window, and the outer one, which is installed in the lower part of the window. Due to the vacuum created in the room by the exhaust ventilation system, these devices ensure a constant airflow of 6 m 3 / h. Under the brand Air-Box Comfort  produced devices with increased sound insulation properties.

Company REHAU  - is one of the most famous manufacturers of window ventilators of various modifications for any plastic windows. The peculiarity of the models of this manufacturer is the availability of anti-wind protection in all air-supply devices of this brand. With strong gusts of wind, the damper automatically closes to create the most comfortable conditions in the room.

It should be noted that irrespective of the model of the window ventilator, its brand and size, its effective operation will only be in the case of a properly functioning ventilation system of the premises itself.

Plastic windows have solved many problems with energy conservation: unlike wooden frames, in which gaps inevitably form, they provide almost complete heat and noise protection.

However, this has a disadvantage: tightly fitting frames and embedded slots create problems with natural ventilation, so the room does not receive fresh air. The ventilating valve on the PVC windows will help to solve the problem: it allows to supply oxygen and at the same time the heat practically does not go to the street.

Installation Advantages

Conventional plastic windows with proper installation  completely isolate the room from the outdoor environment. This prevents water vapor from leaving the room, and fresh air does not enter it.

Standard ventilation systems were installed in the calculation for wooden window blocks, so without a natural airflow, they are useless.

As a result, mold stains appear on the walls and on the slopes over time, due to increased dampness, fungus formation is possible. People living in such a house are experiencing a deterioration in their well-being and various health problems.

Supply valves are able to completely solve the problem, they have the following advantages:

  • Do not constantly open the sash for ventilation. Even with the installation of a special "comb" fixing the frame, the slit will be too large, and the heat will quickly leave the street. In the winter it creates huge inconveniences and increases the risk of colds.
  • The installation creates a normal microclimate: the room will have an easy and comfortable atmosphere, favorable for health.
  • The installation of air-handling devices increases the level of house security: this is an additional protection against foreign penetration through open doors.
The windows with ventilation valves last longer, as they are less likely to use fittings, and moving parts wear out more slowly and later fail. With all these advantages, their installation is inexpensive and allows one to solve several problems at once.

Due to the optimal climate, the wall and ceiling coverings, as well as the slopes will last longer, and the repair of the premises can be carried out less often.

Types and varieties

The ventilation of the premises with installed plastic double-glazed windows is created due to the use of valves of several common types:

The choice of the type of device depends on the financial possibilities, and on the type of the installed window structure. There are several popular brands that are maximally adapted to common window systems, most of them do not require serious intervention in the glass unit, so installation will not take much time and will not entail large financial costs.

Criterias of choice

The choice of a vent valve is a critical task: the microclimate in the house and the health status of the tenants depend on its performance. Professionals advise paying attention to several important parameters:

Important! In residential premises, it is not necessary to install devices in which there is no possibility of regulation at all. The need to change the intensity of ventilation or completely block it arises constantly, so the valve will still have to close something, and this will create unnecessary inconvenience.

Inquiry marks

About plastic windows with a vent valve you can read a variety of reviews: some users praise them, some, on the contrary, are sharply criticized. However, this depends not so much on the fact of installation itself as on the type of supply system chosen. Let's consider more in detail the most known offers of manufacturers.

Aereco

This is a French version of supply ventilation with the possibility automatic adjustment. It is carried out with the help of special plates of polyamide: they begin to expand with increasing temperature, this drives the unit opening the valve. The design is mounted in the window unit, in addition, it can be installed directly into the wall above the window opening.

The system with automatic control  allows to solve a problem of a cold in a premise: the gauge itself reacts to temperature change, and the heat simply can not leave outside. At the same time, this device does not require the installation of complex air ducts, it does not need additional power supply, it works noiselessly. This is one of the most profitable solutions, so it has gained wide popularity.

Air-Box

To install soundproof windows with ventilation valves, it is not necessary to spend on imported products: in the market you can find a widely used, very effective domestic development. The device consists of two parts - external and internal. The first takes cold air from the street, the second provides its supply to the room and efficient ventilation.

The Air-Box valve requires a working ventilation system  in the building: the petals open on the principle of depletion due to pressure fluctuations. The intensity of air exchange reaches 6 cubic meters of air per hour. You can buy it as standard option, and the device series Comfort.

The first requires milling of the window unit, the second one can be mounted independently. To do this, only remove the seal. The device can be adjusted in manual mode, which makes it possible to block the influx of outdoor air at low temperatures in the street.

Self-installing

To put an Air-Box device on your own, you only need a knife and a cross-head screwdriver. You do not need to invite specialists for this work. The valve is normally installed on top  window frame, while it should be placed in such a way that the door does not touch it when opening and closing.

The work is carried out as follows:

  • The device is applied to the leaf, it needs to be marked. If there is no possibility to put it on the top of the window unit, it can be placed on the side, but it should be as high as possible.
  • After marking, it is necessary to make incisions on the window seal and to remove the fragment strictly in size.
  • The valve is put on the double-glazed window and is attached with fastening dowels. Before installation remove the yellow protective film from it.
  • Then, the seals that are included in the kit are mounted. If properly installed, all joints will be completely isolated, and air will penetrate the room only directly through the structure itself.

Provide fresh air without reducing the level of noise and heat insulation allows the inlet valve for plastic windows. Such valves create an optimal air exchange, in a room where such valves are installed, it is always comfortable.

What is a supply air valve?

This is a vent valve for plastic windows, which can be overhead or concealed. It is mounted both during the creation of the window and on the already installed window sashes. The vent holes direct air from the street to the ceiling of the room, which excludes drafts, but at the same time saturates the air in the room with oxygen. Streams of incoming air from outside can be regulated and even completely eliminated. Valves can pass at least 30 cubic meters of fresh air per hour, and this is enough for a comfortable life indoors.

The valve is installed on the upper part of the sash. Has an inlet block on the outside and an air regulating valve on the inside

The valve-handle is installed instead of the usual handle, does not change the appearance of the window

Why is it needed?

Plastic windows have long come to replace the wooden. They are hermetic, which is both a virtue and a disadvantage. In ordinary wooden windows there are always gaps or natural pores that allow air to enter the room. And if you keep the plastic windows always closed, then the following problems can threaten the room:

Without valve:

  • stuffiness;
  • formation of condensate ();
  • defeat by fungus or mold.

Constantly to air - too not an output. If you keep them open, then the meaning of installing the plastic windows is lost, because in this case the room will be cold and noisy.

Valve installation allows:

  • reduce the humidity in the room;
  • provide continuous ventilation without opening the windows;
  • do not allow temperature changes.

Supply valves on plastic windows solve an important problem - if they are present, the apartment will have fresh air, and the windows will remain closed. It often happens that it is undesirable to open windows even for airing - there is a possibility of penetration of someone inside, and can also, for example, get into the open window of a cigarette butt, thrown from the upper floors. Thus, the supply valve is an additional safety guarantee.

Supply ventilation to plastic windows allows you to constantly maintain a favorable microclimate in the room. About this aspect, we will talk in more detail later.

Plastic windows provide almost complete sealing of the room. In conditions of severe Russian climate this is a huge plus. In the warm season, the lack of oxygen is solved simply by airing, but in winter such a measure is impossible because of the severe frosts. The lack of fresh air is fraught with many problems:

  • Fogging the windows.
  • The appearance of fungus and mold on the slopes.
  • The air mustiness. This creates discomfort in the room.
  • In young children, allergic reactions may occur.

Additional ventilation in the room with plastic windows is provided by means of installation special valves. They have different design features, but their main purpose is to let outdoor air into the room without temperature losses. They cope with this function, albeit with varying degrees of efficiency.

Tip: In most windows, you can adjust the closing density. In the warm season, expose the doors in summer mode - in this case the frames will not close too tightly, which will allow oxygen to enter the room.

In what cases is the organization of additional air circulation necessary:

  • If the house is home to young children. As already mentioned, a lack of oxygen can adversely affect their health.
  • In rooms with many plants. Without oxygen, they will simply die out.
  • When the house is heated by convectors or oil coolers. Such heaters monstrously dry the air.
  • In production. In workshops (if they are associated with toxic substances) it is necessary to organize the maximum influx of fresh air.

All known varieties

The ventilation valve for plastic windows is only a simple device at first glance. It is divided into several varieties, which have significant design differences. They should be known to pick up the best option.

This is the simplest, and most importantly the cheapest option. With their help, outdoor air enters the room through small cutouts. The main advantages of this technology are as follows:

  • Low cost.
  • There is no need to dismantle the installed PVC windows.
  • It guarantees the preservation of the soundproofing properties of the insulating glass unit.
  • High speed and easy installation.
  • Possibility of automation.

Among all the advantages, one was wormed, but a very important disadvantage is the weak bandwidth. Because of this, rebated ventilation with closed windows has a weak efficiency.

Slot

The fresh air into the room comes through special channels. Usually they have a size in the range of 160-400 by 10-16 mm. Typically, such a valve is equipped with two units - inlet and regulating. On more advanced models, it is one (universal). Pros of Technology:

  • Absolute protection from external factors (precipitation, insects). This is provided by the presence of a regulating unit.
  • High (in our case average) skipping ability.
  • Can be used without dismounting the double-glazed windows.

A serious disadvantage in this case can be found only one - a relatively complicated installation. However, some models do not even have this lack (about this later). Therefore this category is the most popular now.

Overhead

In residential buildings, such structures are practically not used. This is due to their serious shortcomings:

  • The thermal insulation properties of windows are seriously reduced.
  • Sound insulation is reduced to almost zero.
  • It is possible to install such a supply ventilation valve only before installing the double-glazed unit. In particular, you need to adjust the size of the opening.

However, this technology has found wide application in the manufacturing sector. The main reason for this is the highest throughput.

Market Leaders - Aereco and Air-box

Domestic market of valves by 90% was occupied by two manufacturers Aereco (France) and Air-box (Russia). You should have an idea about the features of their products:

A qualitative and practical option

Valves from Aareco are an overlay that has an attractive appearance (there are color variations) that fits into any interior. The most optimal installation option is during the manufacture of PVC windows. However, if the double-glazed windows are already standing, then installation can also be done. This will require a small drilling of frames.

There is a device of 8 (16) moisture-sensitive plates. Depending on the humidity level, they can open or close the barrier. And their work does not need power. The principle of operation is based on the physical law of thermal expansion.

You can even mount them into the wall. This method is used mainly in wooden buildings, because the milling of structural steel structures is extremely difficult. From the point of view of its qualities, this manufacturer looks the best analog on the market. However, it has an important drawback - a high price (from 2500 thousand rubles).

A cheaper analogue

The Russian manufacturer of air-box makes its products much simpler, which at the same time almost does not lag behind in efficiency from its more expensive "brethren". Such models allow to penetrate the street air through the space between the frame and the leaf. It seeps through the replacement of the regular seal. To control air flow, you must move the knob of the regulator.

Such models are much simpler, and require manual control. At the same time, they carry two very important advantages: low cost (on average from 400 rubles) and more simple technique  installation. Air-box is installed in two ways - by means of milling the frame (as in the previous manufacturer) and by replacing the sealant (it will be discussed below).

Possible installation options

Forced ventilation in the window can be implemented in three ways, which vary greatly in complexity.

The most complicated method is the adjustment of the opening dimensions

The most time-consuming and costly method is associated with the installation of the above-mentioned overhead elements. They are mounted as follows:

  • The existing double-glazed windows are removed.
  • Expands the opening to the size of the lining.
  • The glass unit is reinstalled.
  • In the formed slot is installed a lining.
  • Slots are covered with cement mortar (or something similar).

The technique looks like a killer and time-consuming one. Therefore, in this order no one does work, because it is fraught with the cosmic expenditure of forces, time and money. It is necessary to take care of additional ventilation in advance, that is, before installing the double-glazed windows.

The most thoughtful people, when ordering PVC windows, immediately plan and install additional air flow. For this purpose, the opening is slightly wider than that required by a double-glazed unit. This method is the most effective, and most importantly rational.

Installation Instructions for Aereco models

However, what to do if the glass unit is already standing? Models from Aereco are installed by a simpler technique. It consists of the following:

  • Selects the location for the channel. If possible, this should be the least noticeable area.

Please note: additional window fittings should not interfere with the installation. Consider this fact when choosing a location.

  • Then, the markup is done.
  • We fasten the bar to the chosen place using special screws for PVC structures.
  • Mark the location of the technological grooves on the porch.
  • We remove the bar. With the help of a drill and electric jigsaw, we cut holes in the leaf and the frame itself.
  • We set the bar again.
  • We fix the valve with the help of special latches.

Such a procedure is relatively time-consuming. In addition, it requires the presence of special tools, which are far from everyone. Another factor is that a person without proper experience can not do the job accurately. Conclusion - installation of such a device is best entrusted to a specialist.

Air-box - installation without problems

There is one more technique that anyone can cope with. The manufacturer of air-box has created a model that is mounted without the use of tools. The kit includes a special sealant and self-tapping screws for PVC. The work is done in the following order:

  • We choose the proposed installation site.
  • We cut off in this place a regular sealant (which is located on the leaf).
  • Insert the new one (from the kit).
  • Remove the protective film from the valve.
  • We fix it in place of installation of a new sealant with the help of special latches.
  • We close the doors and make a mark on the frame along the length of the valve.
  • Cut off the existing seal in this place and install a new one in its place (the same one from the kit).

If something turns out to be incomprehensible to you, you can watch the video from the manufacturer. It will make it possible to understand everything clearly.

Specialization: a professional in the field of construction and repair (full cycle of finishing works, both internal and external, from sewerage to electricians and finishing works), installation of window structures. Hobby: watch the column "SPECIALIZATION AND SKILLS"

Quite often I have to deal with the opinion that plastic windows with ventilation (in any case - with a quality one) are almost incompatible. This is presented almost as a major disadvantage of PVC-constructions: they say, here old wooden products though "siphonil", but the air was missing!

In principle, the claims for excessive sealing of plastic windows are partially justified, but only partially. Whatever it was, after installing such designs, the issue of airing the room will have to be solved from scratch, and below I will tell you how it can be done.

Why is it necessary?

From my point of view, forced ventilation  in an apartment with plastic windows - this is not a matter of choice, it's a matter of necessity. Yes, we can not put special devices for, but we have to organize the inflow - otherwise we will have to breathe musty air, which will lead to quite predictable health problems.

This situation is explained simply:

  1. Wooden windows (especially rather old ones), along with an extensive list of shortcomings, had one merit - they ensured the flow of fresh air. Yes, this inflow was minimal, yes, it was accompanied by drafts and heat losses - but at the same time it was enough for partial air exchange.
  2. For plastic windows, the tightness is practically mandatory: both the design of the leaf, and the seals, and the fittings provide the most dense porch. But, keeping the heat, we lose fresh air, because it will simply nowhere to take.
  3. There is a second, not so obvious minus. If there is no inflow, then there will be no hoods, which means that unpleasant odors will not be removed from the apartment. The kitchen will cope with the hood with the motor (although its effectiveness in this situation suffers), but in the rest of the premises the mustiness "settles" very quickly.

  1. Finally, do not forget about moisture. To normalize the humidity in the room, it is necessary that excess water be removed to the ventilation system. If there is no normal circulation (and where to get it - the ventilation in the plastic windows is blocked due to a sealed porch), then all the water will remain in the apartment. Hello, on windows, greetings, a fungus - pass, settle down, for you all conditions are created!

In general, as you understand from this very emotional entry, the ventilation in the room with plastic windows - a question quite relevant. To ensure the influx of fresh air and the normalization of its circulation, additional measures must be taken, otherwise the concentration carbon dioxide  and the water vapor will grow steadily (plus dust, plus fungal spores - in general, a good little).

Methods of arrangement

Ventilation through the vestibule

Supply ventilation to plastic windows can be realized in several ways. The simplest, and most obvious, is airing. In any case, it is on him that the majority of buyers of PVC-constructions count.

For the sake of justice, I should note that ventilation in modern windows is organized relatively well. In any case, there are several design solutions that provide air exchange with different intensity.

The most common I will describe in the table below:

Mechanism Use for ventilation
Swivel opening Actually, the simplest technique: we just open the sash and let in fresh air. Used mainly for "volley" ventilation, well, in the summer - then generally the windows are in the open position permanently.

The main disadvantages associated with security, especially if the house has children or cats. The risk of slamming the door with a gust of wind, too, exists, but it can be minimized by installing a special limiter or latch.

Folding opening The ability to open the sash "on the flip" is an important plus of the fittings for PVC structures. In this position, the window lets in enough air, but remains completely safe.
Slit airing This option is very convenient for constant use in the warm season. In the fittings complex, an additional element is built in, which, when turning the handle on the 450, only slightly open the sash, leaving a small gap along the perimeter for constant air access.
Stepwise airing A variant combining the advantages of the two previous ones. By changing the position of the window handle, we are able to adjust the width of the gap between the leaf in the flip position and the frame: from the minimum to almost completely open.

All these mechanisms have one key drawback: they work only if we do not forget to put the window on airing. And this means that in the cold season we will be practically deprived of fresh air, especially at night: who will leave the window in the bedroom ajar, if so in the account every degree!

In addition, the window, the flap of which is fixed in a semi-open position (even if there is only a small gap), is more vulnerable to penetration from the outside. And if the mosquito net protects us from insects, then the attacker will cope with the locking system will be an order of magnitude simpler. So the owners of private houses, as well as apartments on the first and (paradoxically, but it is) the last floors fall into the risk group.

In general, there are enough shortcomings, so that plastic windows with a ventilation valve become more and more popular today.

Supply Valves

To ensure the flow of air into the room with the installed metal-plastic window, special devices are increasingly being used. They automatically or manually control the flow of air into the room, while working almost constantly.

On the market you can find several models of inlet valves:

  1. Walls - appeared first of all, but still do not lose popularity to this day. To install such a valve in the wall a hole is drilled that does not affect the window in any way. The valve operates in a one-way mode, i.e. only lets in air. The intensity of work is regulated either by a mechanical or electronic system.
  2. Window mechanical - the simplest and most compact devices. By and large, such a supply valve is a flap that closes the opening in the upper part of the window frame. We need an inflow - the hole is open, not needed - closed completely or to a minimum air transmission.

  1. Window hygroscopic - the most modern, in my opinion, models. Inside such a valve is a sensor that reacts to humidity: once this parameter rises above a certain level, the flap opens, letting in fresh air. This allows you to adjust the intensity of air exchange, depending on the level of oxygen consumption.

The main advantage of hygroscopic valves is that they can not be completely blocked: air exchange (at least a minimum) will go in any case. The downside is the price - for example, the cost of the Aereco valve is from 4200 to 6600 rubles, depending on the capacity and configuration.

In most cases, the window ventilation system is mounted on the top of the frame. This allows you to compensate for heat loss: cold air enters the top of the room, i.e. in the warmest place. While it falls to the level of 1.5 -1.7 m, it will warm up enough that we do not feel any discomfort.

The procedure of self-assembly of the inlet valve

Windows with a ventilation valve actually provide an efficient air exchange, because this solution can be considered optimal for most homes and apartments. And although the valve itself is not cheap, we can save at least through installation.

I have repeatedly installed the supply window ventilation myself, so I will share with you a brief algorithm of actions:

  1. The window leaf is removed from the hinges, after which I remove the elements of the fitting from the top.
  2. On the flap seal (protrusion adjacent to the frame) I attach the mounting plate of the valve, and on it I make a marking for sawing holes.
  3. I remove the mounting plate and drill a few holes with a drill. Then, with a thin hand saw or electric jigsaw, I connect the holes, forming a vent groove.
  4. Exactly the same groove is cut out on the floating frame from the outside. Before that, by the way, you may need to dismantle the answer bars.

Work will have to be at an altitude, so insurance is mandatory!

  1. The mounting strip from the wrong side is lubricated with silicone sealant, I apply it to the installation site and fix the flaps with self-tapping screws.
  2. I return the fittings and put the sash on the hinges.

  1. Outside the frame I attach a visor: normal, protecting from debris, equipped with a net from insects or acoustic. The latter version costs a little more expensive and partially reduces the air transmission, but its use makes it possible to reduce the noise level.
  2. On the side of the room on the mounting plate, I snap the valve fasteners. I expose the mode of work necessary to me and check the intensity of the inflow.

Almost all inlet valves are mounted according to this scheme. The differences are only in details, but here you can understand the instructions from the manufacturer.

Conclusion

Supply ventilation to PVC windows is not only very useful, but also vitally important. That's why you should carefully study all the possibilities for its organization, and choose the option that suits you.

I still tend to install an air inlet window valve, and if you are interested in this technology, then it is worthwhile to study the video in this article, and all the questions you ask me in the comments. I hope my experience is enough to help you make the right choice!
