We carry out fire protection of steel structures with fireproof paints, basalt foil wrapping materials, etc., depending on the required fire resistance and other characteristics of the object. Our experts will recommend the best conditions for carrying out fireproof work in accordance with your wishes. Modern fire protection for metal structures, the price of which is formed on the most favorable terms for the customer, is a reliable way to protect metal products, and therefore the entire building, from the destructive effects of fire.

Our company has the design and construction SRO permits, and license of the Ministry of Emergency Situations  to perform fire protection of metal. The quality of the work is necessarily confirmed by the positive conclusion of the testing fire laboratory of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the relevant subject of the Russian Federation. Specialists of the company perform professional fire protection of metal structures at competitive prices, taking into account all the customer's wishes.

The task of fire protection of metal structures

Despite the fact that metal structures are not subject to combustion, fire retardant treatment of metal is required in order that fire and high temperature do not cause changes in its structure and as a result of breaking the strength and geometric parameters of metal structures. The project of fire protection of metal structures should become a part of complex design works even before construction of buildings and constructions from metal began.

Fire protection of metal structures, the price of which is determined by the choice of a certain method of flame retardant treatment of metal, consists in the formation of special heat-insulating screens on its surface. If the flame retardant treatment of metal structures is carried out correctly, the metal withstands high temperatures and exposure to fire without changing its physical properties. Reliable fire protection of metal structures significantly slows down the process of heating them.

The method of fire protection for metal structures is determined by the following parameters:

  • necessary fire-technical characteristics of the facility,
  • the type and purpose of the structural element,
  • the level of temperature and humidity on the site,
  • aesthetic and practical requirements.

All this takes into account the well-developed project of fire protection of metal structures, which in a short time are performed by specialists of the Moscow Fire Company.

Modern processing of metal structures

The project of fire protection of metal structures determines which fire protection of steel and metal structures will be used at the facility. If before fireproofing of metal structures was carried out with the help of brickwork, asbestos and cement cladding, today it was replaced by fire-protective treatment of metal structures with light-weight fire-resistant compounds, materials and fire retardant paints  . Such fire retardant treatment of metal structures:

  • differs in an affordable price,
  • has a long service life,
  • easily restored,
  • does not create additional loads.

Among the modern compositions with the help of which the fireproofing of metal structures is made:

  • Intumescent flame retardant paints, which, when heated, increase tens of times, forming a foam layer of non-combustible substances;
  • Non-expanding, which create a special heat shield.

The most effective is the fire protection of steel structures and other types of metal using intumescent paints and wrapping foils.

  • The kind of fireproof composition that our specialists are also ready to identify;
  • Terms and schedule of work on site.

The price for the fire protection project can be found by sending a section of the CM project to the company's e-mail. In case there is no project, a company employee will manually measure the area of metal structures on your site.

Development of the project of fire protection of metal structures is included in the general complex of services on organization MOSB  . Experts of OOO Spetsproekt Group make calculations and form a list of recommendations for risk reduction. The results of the joint work of engineers, designers, fire safety inspectors, specialists in the field of civil defense and emergency situations are included in the project documentation. The availability of these data is one of the conditions for the coordination of construction drawings.

The order of project development

Previously, when building buildings to protect metal from the effects of open flames, high temperatures, combustion products and side effects, insufficient attention has been paid. Usually, building organizations  They did a little explanatory note about the planned activities.

Today, a more responsible approach to solving this problem. Preparation of the documentation involves a detailed assessment of risks, the collection of necessary data on the object. Only for the elaboration of the issue of protection of metal structures is taken from 1 to 7 working days. If necessary, the calculation period increases.

  • weight and type of object;
  • features of metal, specificity of compounds of elements;
  • the presence of special coatings;
  • fire resistance of structures and structures in general;
  • potential risk (maximum burning temperature, duration of exposure to a flame, etc.);
  • indicators of strength, resistance to deformation, melting.

The calculation involves the use of not one dozen basic values and coefficients. Attempts self-selection  means of protection from fire, as a rule, lead to serious mistakes. That is why the development of the project is better to trust professionals. Specialists of the center will ensure detailed elaboration of each section and guarantee complete safety.

Results of calculations are made out in the form of a report. The document includes:

  • detailed characteristics of the metal structure, data obtained during the measurements;
  • type of fire retardant composition and the order of its application;
  • rules for preparing the object for processing;
  • number of layers, their thickness;
  • total composition;
  • as well as detailed information on the specialists who performed the calculation.

In the report, there are mandatory references to the current regulations and standards. To reject such a document without sufficient grounds, the auditors will not succeed. Unlike the usual explanatory note fire safety project  metal structures is an important part of all construction documentation. These calculations are especially carefully checked during state and independent examination. In this regard, the specialists of Spetsproekt Group LLC do not recommend changing any parameters independently or changing protective compounds (even for budgetary purposes). Any corrections and additions should be based on an accurate calculation, taking into account the specifics of the design and material.

Steel does not burn, but the fire resistance of this construction material leaves much to be desired. After all, the metalwork, heated by the fire, loses its rigidity in a matter of minutes. And even a 30-millimeter plate will last no more than 25-27 minutes in the fire, after which the structure will collapse under its weight and operational load.

In the end, it turns out that effective fire protection is needed even for non-combustible metal structures. And this need is reflected in most of the rules and regulations governing the construction of such facilities. Therefore, in this article, we will consider the design of fire protection of metal structures, paying attention to the design process, and the implementation of this technology.

What are the requirements for fire protection of metal structures?

First, common sense. After all, the fire resistance of a steel beam or truss corresponds to the fire resistance for 25 minutes.

Secondly, construction norms and rules, which simply could not ignore such a minor fire resistance. Therefore, mention of the fire protection of metal structures is in SNiP 21-01-97 (Fire safety), in SNiP 2.09.03-89 (Industrial buildings) and in SNiP 2.08.01-89 (Residential buildings).

Thirdly, state standards regulating the limits of fire resistance and classes of fire hazard - a series of GOST 30247 from 1994, 1997, 2002 and a series of GOST 30403 from 1996 and 2012.

As you can see: fire protection is a very serious matter, which is regulated by a whole series of regulations, regulations and standards.

How to protect metal from fire?

In contrast to regulations and standards of real ways to protect metal structures from fire is not very much. Moreover, according to general recommendations, the most effective flame retardant technology is the formation of a screen protecting the structure from the destructive effects of the flame.

Well, the screen itself can be formed in several ways: from banal bricking or plastering to spraying on the surface of the construction of a flame retardant tread.

In this case, the screen efficiency determines the thickness of the fire protection layer, which depends on the physical characteristics of the tread and the expected fire resistance. For example, the concreting of metal structures or the lining of the frame with brick (in a quarter) provides fire resistance up to 120 minutes, and heat-resistant paint coatings last for 90 minutes maximum.

What is the methodology for calculating the parameters of fire retardant coatings?

The main parameter of a flame retardant coating - its thickness - is considered by two methods: by means of an experimental estimate or by calculations.

At the same time, the experimental technique assumes an estimation of the structural stability under the action of a real flame. That is, the experimental samples are covered with a protector, after which the metal structure is ignited. Next, you just need to fix the deformation and connect these data with the thickness of the coating. Well, after the experiments, all the data are entered into special tables, according to which it is possible to evaluate the fire resistance of a metal structure covered with a layer of a suitable tread thickness.

Calculation method for determining the thickness of fire protection links the reduced thickness of the structural material (metal) with the fire resistance of metal structures. Moreover, the term "reduced thickness" refers to the ratio of the cross-sectional area (it is known from GOST to the corresponding metal-roll) to the heated perimeter (the sum of the sides of the "burning" structure).

The formula for calculating the reduced thickness is as follows:

Where S is the cross-sectional area, and P is the perimeter. And all the parameters are measured in centimeters.

Knowing the reduced thickness of the metal, it is possible to estimate the degree of fire resistance of the whole structure (according to SNIP 2.08.02 - 89) and the analogous parameter of a separate element of the metal framework (SNiP 21-01-97).

In the final, according to the physical characteristics of the tread, the number of layers applied to the structure to achieve the required fire resistance is determined.

Typical varieties of treads

The most common treads that increase the fire resistance of the structure include the following compositions:

  • Products from the "Iceberg" series of the company "ChemPark Nord". These compounds provide 3 and 4 classes of fire protection at a coating thickness of up to 1.5 millimeters.
  • Compositions of the NGO "Association Krilak", supplied in the series "Fayeleks". They provide 3 and 4 classes of fire protection with a coating thickness of 1.5 to 11 millimeters.
  • The composition of "Antigor" company SPE "Spetsenergotechnika", which can withstand up to 120 minutes of fire (grade 3 fire protection).
  • Paint OZK-45 of the company "NPL 38080", a millimeter layer of which guarantees the 4th class of fire protection.
  • Paint PROTERMSTEELItalian company ITALVISPROTECTS.r.l, providing a 4th class of fire protection when applying a layer thickness of 1.2 millimeters.
  • German paint UNITERM, a millimeter layer of which provides fire protection class 4.
  • French compound SIGNULAN HOECO, 60 mm layer of which provides 1 class of fire protection.

As you can see: modern industry offers a variety of protectors, providing fire protection and first and fourth grades. The thickness of the coating can vary from one to ten millimeters. That is, the interested consumer can choose an option with almost any properties and performance characteristics.
