In many residential buildings and apartments today, a geyser is used as a water heater in the bathroom or in the kitchen. Modern models of well-known manufacturers are automated devices with a closed or open combustion chamber and reliable emergency protection systems. According to statistics, the main cause of their breakdowns and gas leaks is a violation of installation technology and poor-quality connection.

Installation options

The rules for the installation and operation of gas instantaneous water heaters are determined by the norms of SPNiP and recommendations for the use of gas equipment. The order of work and the scheme for their implementation depend on what work needs to be done:

1. installation of the column "from scratch";
2. moving the water heater to another place;
3. replacement of the old gas column with a new one.

In the first two cases, it is necessary to develop a project and obtain permission from the city gas department. In the latter, no agreement is required.

Installation Requirements

When installing a gas column, a number of requirements must be observed:

Dismantling the old water heater

Before starting the installation, it is necessary to check the condition of the chimney and, if necessary, clean it. The test is carried out with the flame of a match or candle.

Preparatory work and column canopy

The wall on which the flow-through gas water heater will be hung must be durable and fire resistant. It is forbidden to mount the gas appliance on wooden walls and partitions.

Then, holes are drilled according to the dimensions of the device and parts are fixed: a mounting plate, hooks or inserts for dowels.

The column is hung in a strictly vertical position in compliance with the clearances specified in its technical data sheet.

Water connection

The connection to the water supply can be made directly from the riser or from the internal wiring pipe. The eyeliner is carried out by PVC, polypropylene or metal-plastic pipes with the obligatory installation of a water filter and a shut-off valve in front of the column.

Removal of combustion products

To connect to the chimney, it is better to take steel pipes, you can use galvanized or stainless steel corrugation (aluminum corrugation is not allowed!) The chimney is put on the column pipe and secured with a clamp, its other end is inserted into the exhaust hole and sealed with cement.
