Instructions for installing and connecting a whirlpool tub

Many people who have the required area of bath rooms are thinking about changing the standard cast-iron or steel bath to a more comfortable one, with hydromassage or air massage. How to install a hot tub, and what are the conditions for its further operation? This requires instructions.

The instruction tells about installation: how to make it to the mains, to water supply and sewerage systems, but does not oblige you to install the bath yourself.

Let's try to understand the main features of installing a hot tub.

Room features

First of all, the size of the room plays a role, and the place where it is planned to install such a bath. The minimum size is calculated as follows: one meter is added to the size of the jacuzzi on each side for more free access to the bath space. It must pass freely into the doorway due to the fact that the bathtub is delivered in a practically assembled state. The alignment of the jacuzzi is achieved using the building level, the legs on which it is installed are regulated.

Drain connection

The drain system is laid depending on the type of bath, that is, for a round one it should be in the center of the room, and for a corner one in the corner where this type of bath will be installed. Accordingly, the supply of hot and cold water must be mounted directly to the installation site of the hot tub.

The drain pipe is used with a diameter of 50 mm (this is a standard whirlpool drain), the drain is made with a HDPE (low pressure polyethylene) or PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipe. The drain system is thought out in advance, it should be mounted at a slight angle for better drainage of water from the bath and should not protrude more than 10 cm from the floor level in relation to the bath, otherwise it is necessary to make a podium. Hot and cold water is supplied by metapol or polypropylene pipes with a diameter of 16, 20, or 25 mm. All installation of the sewerage and water supply system must be carried out by experienced workers. A bathtub cleaning system is essential as the whirlpool jets are sensitive to contaminated water. To do this, a pressure reducer and a water purification filter are pre-installed. The reducer is necessary to stabilize the supplied water pressure, although jumps are unlikely in urban networks, but you can make sure. Filters are placed for rough water purification. It is extremely important to provide access to the junctions of the whirlpool bath systems to the water supply so that urgent repairs or preventive maintenance can be carried out.

Electrical connection

Attaching the bathtub to the wall.

The hot tub must be connected to a separate socket. Pumping equipment must be grounded through a special grounding bolt. To do this, it is necessary in advance (depending on the season and the characteristics of the area) to take care of laying the ground loop. The ground loop will protect to the maximum from breakdown or malfunction of the hot tub equipment, so it is worth dwelling on this point in more detail.

For laying, you will need: three fittings with a diameter of 16 mm and a length of 2.5 m each, a ground strip 6 × 25. It is necessary to drive three pins of reinforcement into the ground with a sledgehammer to a depth of 2.5 m, and the distance between the pins should also be 2.5 m in a straight line or in the form of a triangle. Further, with the help of a welding machine, all the pins are scalded with a strip, with one input from this design, the strip is introduced into the house. This will be the ground loop. A copper wire with a diameter of at least 4 mm is screwed to a pre-welded bolt on a strip in the house, the other end of the wire is screwed to the equipment, thereby ensuring the grounding of the hot tub.

The hot tub socket must be connected to an RCD (residual current device), this device will also provide protection against electric shock. The RCD is installed in a common house shield or in a box directly in the apartment or house by an electrician who connects the bath.

Hello! Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure, but it is likely that such a problem appeared due to the fact that the control system does not turn on, because your bathtub is simply not filled to a certain level. If you have not yet considered this option as a reason, try to correct it by carefully reading the instructions for using the Jacuzzi hot tubs.

So, for example, read what is written at the following link: http://sanmarket.com.ua/index.php?t=articles&id=32 . In particular, it says that the whirlpool cycle in the hot tub can only be turned on if, when immersed in a person's bath, the water level exceeds the edge of the topmost jet by at least 7 cm.

* Jacuzzi whirlpool tubs are equipped with a special electronic device that prevents the whirlpool pump from turning on if the water level is below the specified level.

* If the whirlpool cycle button is pressed when the water level is low, the whirlpool pump will not turn on and a long beep will sound. After that, it is necessary to add the missing amount of water and press the button again.

* The dry-running safety device also signals a drop in the water level during the whirlpool cycle (caused, for example, by a person getting out of the tub). If this happens, the pump will stop and an audible alarm will sound to warn of a low water level.

If the water level is insufficient, the whirlpool cycle will not start and a long beep will sound. In order to turn on the whirlpool cycle, it will be necessary to add the missing amount of water and press the whirlpool button (B) again.

If the water level drops during the whirlpool cycle (drain opening or person getting out of the tub), the whirlpool pump will stop working, the green LED will turn off and an intermittent beep will sound. If the water level rises to the required level, the hydromassage system will automatically turn on and work for the remaining time at the time of stop. If within 5 minutes from the moment of stopping the hydromassage pump the water level does not rise to the required level, the hydromassage system will stop working permanently.

If the whirlpool on/off button (B) is pressed again while the whirlpool system is in operation, the whirlpool cycle will immediately stop before the programmed 20 minutes have elapsed.

If the whirlpool pump stops for any reason (command, long alarm, power failure), pressing the on/off button again will restart the whirlpool cycle from the beginning and last for 20 minutes.

If your bathtub is equipped with an underwater light, then it may also not turn on due to the fact that the water level in the bathtub is insufficient. This avoids damage to the luminaire, which can overheat if it is not completely submerged in water.

The hydromassage is amazing.

It is also remarkable that today almost everyone can buy a hot tub - there are a lot of affordable models on sale.

But it’s not enough to buy it, you still need to install and connect it correctly. In this article, we will just talk about how the Jacuzzi is installed.

First of all, you need to make sure that the floor in the bathroom can support the weight of the hot tub you choose.

The fact is that such baths themselves are quite heavy, because, unlike ordinary ones, they are hung with various equipment.

As a result, after filling with medium-sized water, the jacuzzi will weigh from 700 kg to 1 ton.

This results in the following requirements:

  1. If the bath is installed on an interfloor ceiling, it must be reinforced concrete.
  2. The plate on which the hot tub is installed must be designed for its weight. The owner of a private house usually knows exactly which slabs are laid between floors and what load is permissible for them. Those who live in high-rise buildings must contact the management company to obtain permission to install.
  3. If the jacuzzi is supposed to be placed on the 1st floor of a house without a basement, then a monolithic or prefabricated reinforced concrete base must be arranged at the installation site.

You also need to make sure that there is enough free space in the room. And it's not just the size of the jacuzzi.

The peculiarity of this equipment is that it is not intended for ordinary bathing with the use of foaming detergents - the foam will quickly clog the nozzles. Therefore, the bathroom should fit not only a hot tub, but also a regular bath or at least a shower.

Hot tub installation process

Often, in order to accommodate a jacuzzi, it is necessary to dismantle the partition between the bathroom and the toilet. Residents of high-rise buildings for this again will have to obtain permission.

And the last thing: do not forget to check if the bath you like will pass through the doorway.

There are questions about the choice All useful information about baths with hydromassage can be found on our website.

Consider the types of slatted ceilings for the bathroom.

Started a bathroom renovation and it's time to choose a ceiling? Types of ceilings and their advantages are described.

Preparing the bathroom for installation

You need to understand that only the smallest hot tubs are equipped with adjustable legs, all the rest, due to their considerable mass, are installed directly on the floor.

Accordingly, the floor surface in the case of installing a large-sized model must be leveled.

A socket is installed in the bathroom next to the location of the jacuzzi.

It must be built-in and have a moisture and dust protection class of at least IP44 - these requirements are due to the high humidity in this room.

In addition, the outlet must have a spring-loaded shutter that will automatically close it after the plug is removed.

The installation of the outlet should be done at the very beginning of the repair process, since this usually requires ditching the walls. You can also place it outside the bathroom - then the requirements will be reduced. But in this case, you need to think about how the device will connect. The mains wire is usually passed through a hole drilled in the door jamb. If necessary, it is increased to the required length.

Water pipes and a sewer lounger must be connected to the location of the jacuzzi.

You can only start installation after all repairs, including finishing, have been fully completed.

Jacuzzi and hot tub installation

When carrying the bath on your hands, in no case should you take on the equipment or its protruding parts - nozzles, nozzles, etc. Hold the product only by the bowl or by the frame.

Remove the protective film at the very last moment, since during installation it is highly likely that you can scratch the unprotected surface of the product with a tool.

Jacuzzi scheme

Installation begins with the assembly of the frame. If you are dealing with an acrylic hot tub, it is very important to assemble the frame in full accordance with the requirements of the instructions, so that all the elements are in place. The acrylic bowl is not very strong, so if there is no support under it, it can easily be pushed through.

The bath, as already mentioned, must be installed strictly horizontally. A slight slope towards the drain hole is considered acceptable. If the floor surface is not perfectly flat, several steel strip spacers should be placed under the frame support frame.

Connection

To the water supply

When connecting to the water supply, one important circumstance must be taken into account: usually the Jacuzzi equipment is designed for a water pressure of no more than 5 atm. In houses connected to a centralized water supply system (except for those powered by a water tower), pressure surges are very likely, so a reducer must be installed on the water supply.

Otherwise, the process of connecting a hot tub is no different from connecting a conventional faucet. Today, it is customary to use flexible piping for this - it leaves the installer free to maneuver, and also eliminates the need to separately seal the joints (the threaded lugs of the piping are already equipped with gaskets).

Working bath

The hoses must be of such length that the bath can be moved 0.5 m from the wall - this may be necessary for maintenance.

Remember that jacuzzi equipment, especially jets with their thin channels, is very sensitive to the presence of mechanical impurities, so at least a coarse filter must be installed on the water supply. And ideally - also thin.

To sewer networks

In order to ensure high-quality water drainage, the drain hole of the bathtub must be located at least 10 cm above the axis of the sewer bed at the connection point. If the jacuzzi bowl is too low, the frame must be raised on stands.

Connection to the sewer is best done with a rigid pipe with smooth walls. If this is not possible, use a corrugated hose.

Bath installation

If you have to buy a siphon on your own (the one included in the kit is not always of high quality), then you need to choose a model with a tap for connecting an overflow.

The siphon is connected to the sewerage system according to the standard scheme: a rubber ring gasket is installed in the socket of the sewer pipe, lubricated with silicone sealant for reliability, after which the pipe coming from the siphon is inserted into this gasket. It is also desirable to fill the space around this pipe with sealant.

Power supply

If it is known for sure that the wiring will withstand the current consumed by the hot tub, then the outlet for it can be powered from a common (apartment or house) power supply.

If in doubt, it is better to connect the socket to the switchboard with a separate wire.

The cross section of the veins is 2.5 - 3 square meters. hmm, that's usually enough. If connected separately, the line must have its own circuit breaker.

For safe operation, the following must be done:

  1. Install an RCD with a leakage current setting of 10mA (so low due to high humidity) in the distribution board on the hot tub power line.
  2. It is obligatory to use a socket with a grounding contact and connect this contact to a real-life grounding loop.
  3. Also, the socket must have a moisture and dust protection class of at least IP44 (when installed inside the bathroom).

Imported electrical equipment does not tolerate power surges typical for our electrical networks, so it is recommended to connect the jacuzzi through a stabilizer.

In order for the bath to serve for a long time, and the procedures to be truly useful, follow the following rules:
  1. Do not turn on the pump and lighting, if any, if there is no water in the bath - this will lead to overheating of this equipment.
  2. Foaming detergents cannot be used when bathing, but various aromatic essences that do not give foam can.

At least once every 2 months (preferably monthly), the Jacuzzi equipment must be disinfected. A composition specially designed for this purpose (sold in any store) must be poured into a filled bath in the amount specified by the manufacturer, after which it should be left for about 2 minutes. Activate hydromassage mode. Then the equipment must be rinsed with cold water using the same mode.

Bidets are not often seen in bathrooms, but there is no doubt about the usefulness of a bidet. – features, advantages and disadvantages, as well as reviews on use, read on our website.

A jacuzzi is not an ordinary container with water for washing, but a technical device equipped with an electric and hydromechanism, and sometimes automatic. In addition, it is used for massage, which is a physiotherapy procedure. Therefore, for those who are going to buy a hot tub, it would be useful to learn how to use it correctly - so as to have fun and not harm your health.

Massages and wellness treatments in the jacuzzi

In the jacuzzi, you can simply wash yourself, as in a regular bath (but always with the hydromassage turned off). But after all, not for washing, by and large, you buy it, but for a pleasant and useful hydromassage, which relieves muscle pain, joint problems and restores the musculoskeletal system.

There are four simple rules for procedures in the jacuzzi:

  • classic hydromassage relaxes, so you should not do it in the morning; if you need to cheer up, then the water should be cool, and the duration of the session is about 10 minutes;
  • the direction and strength of the water jets must be adjusted so as to receive only pleasant sensations from the procedure; the intensity of the jets is changed by decreasing / increasing the air in the water stream;
  • you can add essential oils if it is provided for by the design, otherwise you can ruin the nozzles;
  • the procedure should not be long, no more than twenty minutes to half an hour. The water temperature is 36-39oC, the toning massage is done at a temperature of 30oC.

A few more tips:

You can not use the jacuzzi immediately after eating and while intoxicated. In the first case, hydromassage will cause discomfort, especially if the food was plentiful and satisfying. In the second case, there is a risk of falling asleep in the bath. Also, you do not need to use the jacuzzi with severe fatigue and poor health - high fever, nausea. These and similar symptoms are good reasons to cancel your hydromassage session.

The temperature of the water should not drop much during the entire session. The jacuzzi does not have its own heating system, high-quality baths are equipped with good thermal insulation, but if the session lasts half an hour, the water will still cool. Therefore, you will have to independently monitor the temperature during the session and add hot water.

Hydromassage gives effect only after regular repetitions. For example, regular procedures will relieve you of insomnia in a few days, but for this, you need to have a relaxing massage every evening, and not from time to time.

Hydromassage is a home hydrotherapy, or "external hydrotherapy", carried out with the help of special jets of water that have a certain pressure and act on the body in the water environment with the help of massage nozzles (jets).
The nozzles have a centripetal direction, from the feet to the torso - this contributes to the reverse circulation of blood.
This direction of water jets therapeutically explains why this direction is one of the fundamental and important aspects of hydromassage.

Jacuzzi - benefit and harm

The therapeutic properties of warm water are beneficial for every body type and stress level.
Someone needs a more powerful jet to relieve the tension of muscle mass after a hard day at work or sports or training.
Others prefer a cradle of warm and relaxing water so that they can think about something good and relax.
The healing effects of hydrotherapy can do more, such as relieving the symptoms of arthritis by providing temporary relief from chronic pain.

How to use the jacuzzi

As you know, the temperature of a healthy body is about 37°C (36.6° to be precise), water above this temperature is considered hot.
At 40°C it is very hot, and above 46°C it is difficult to bear after a few seconds.
Hot hydromassage first causes euphoria, but then it can cause great stress to the body. It is extremely important to control the temperature of the water, especially given the duration of the bath.
The general rule is the following: the hotter the water, the shorter the hydromassage session should be. In order for the body to get used to, you can start with 10 minutes, until you reach the optimal duration, which should be chosen for each specific case.

Table of temperature / duration of hydromassage

34° - 36° - 20 minutes
36° - 38° - 15 minutes
38° - 40° - 10 minutes
Before hydromassage, it is recommended to scrub the body at least once a month to remove dead skin particles.

Hydromassage contraindications

Like all types of external therapies, hydromassage is contraindicated if there are serious diseases or pathologies in the acute phase.
You can not use hydromassage in the presence of certain skin diseases, as well as in cases of acute and chronic respiratory failure.
From the point of view of cardiology and the circulatory system, in the presence of pathologies or heart failure.
In any case, you should first contact your doctor to obtain permission for such therapy.

High-quality whirlpool bathtubs are designed for more than one day, special attention is paid to the location of the nozzles, which cannot be accidental (as it happens when installing a hydromassage bath on a randomly purchased bathtub).
Specially designed internal ergonomics of the bath shape where the hydro jets fit - to optimize the effects of the hydrotherapy action.
Bath design is also the result of careful research and is a fundamental element of a good whirlpool bath.
Bathtubs should have an ergonomic bottom and sides that guarantee comfort person of any body type. The body of a person immersed in water should take a natural position for hydromassage, using the best water circulation.

Hydromassage Jacuzzi, as the founder and pioneer of this bath therapy, is based on the physical principle of the Venturi effect, which consists in the optimal ratio of air and water.
In order for hydromassage to be performed correctly, the jets must have an important characteristic: they must be inclined by 30° and perform a correct, active massage from the peripheral areas towards the heart (perpendicular jets can be too intense).
The nozzles must turn in any direction to ensure maximum personalization depending on the parameters of each person.
